“I-I don’t know! Ma’am! It wasn’t me!” Onuris took a couple of steps back until his back hit the wall — more precisely, his box of things, which was decidedly as wide as he was. Paradoxically, his past life found this situation hilarious somehow, and he was forced to stifle laughter even as he shook with fear.

“I—pffhaha—I’ve n-never seen them before in my life!”

Her eyes narrowed, “Is something amusing you boy?” She bent down to get a better look at him. He was small, kind of dusty looking, and currently trembling with fear. Good, as he should be. “How did you get in here? Did the guards let you in with them? What’s in that box. Show me.” she demanded, pointing at the box the boy was hiding behind him.

“Now.”

Onuris quailed, the contents of his box rattling slightly. He didn’t know what to do. He had been passing through the castle in the hopes of selling some of his wares to the court, and no guards had been around to stop him, so he had assumed it was all right! He stopped in his tracks, knowing it was hopeless to try and ship away at this point.

“H-hi,” the dead boy croaked, smiling sheepishly.

Adira stared coldly at the boy in front of her. “Who the hell are you? Did you bring these women in here? Answer me!”

She was furious, not caring that it was merely a child who stood in front of her.

The Queen was not having this.

Not in the slightest.

Adira marched up in down the halls, dragging her sword with her, banging it against the stone wall where it made an unpleasant noise.

“I want everyone up right now!” she bellowed, completely livid. ”Who ordered these….these ladies of the night??” she pointed towards two cowering women who obviously were intimidated by their highness.

“Someone better answer me.”

Adira here as well, spread the word guys!!

Despite being no stranger to the steely tone of her parent’s voice, Tania flinched and averted her gaze as she approached. “I was just going back to my room…” A moment later, she shook her head slowly, saying, “No, Mother… It’s useless. I don’t want to waste your time.”

She rolled her eyes, “Nonsense, every moment of practice helps all the much more, even if you can’t see it yourself.” She truly did love her daughter, but the defeatism that marred Tania’s life because of her uncontrollable powers bothered the Queen immensely. Adira believed Tania should fight to gain control, though she admitted begrudgingly that her daughter wasn’t a fighter and it was neigh impossible to get her to battle something, even if it was herself.

“Come over here, you can practice on my dummy.”

double-edged:

Mathias found himself walking aimlessly throughout the castle. The day had been long but, seeing as no one had relegated any tasks to him, ultimately fruitless and dreadfully boring.

The sound of metal on wood thudding and thumping caught his attention, and he made a quick right down the hallway to the training room. Of course, he found his aun—ahem, Her Majesty practicing her blade against a wooden dummy.

Not one to approach his aunt in such a state, he decided to remain in the doorway until invited over or otherwise addressed.

Perhaps she would wish to spar against him… however unlikely it would be that he could hold up against her.

Adira could feel eyes staring at the back of her head. Never one to leave her back unguarded, she turned and was faced with her nephew, the Duke. Not that she was much surprised, the bored expression on his face told all.

Though he always looked like that.

Gaius’s nephew had always been a dutiful boy, and having proved himself worthy in her eyes, she granted him the position of Duke, so Gaius wouldn’t have to worry and well, Mathias wouldn’t be here all the time. She cared for him yes, but something about him…it always put her off. But he was her husband’s nephew, and she would treat him well.

“Ah Mathias.” she said, placing her sword tip down, “I did not see you. I suspect that you perhaps want to spar? Or watch me continue to practice, we can still hold a conversation.”

starlightsteel:

At the same time, in the same room, a certain young princess stared dolefully at a similar wooden figure, a soft sigh escaping her lips. It had been some time since she had entered the hall, an action which was something of a rarity, but she had still made little progress, if any.

What she sought to master was not any weapon, but the psychic abilities that had laid just beyond her grasp for as long as she could remember. They would spring forth in times of great anguish, ravaging all that stood around her, with a destructive force that terrified the girl. She didn’t want anybody to suffer just because she was too weak to keep her own power in check, but no matter how hard she tried, all of her efforts to bring it under control invariably came to naught.

Dejected, she turned to leave the room and return to her own quarters, but froze momentarily as she spotted her mother wailing furiously on another helpless dummy.

Adira had been too caught up in beating up the effigy to notice her young daughter in the hall with her. She knew that occasionally, if not rarely, Tania would come here to try and control her powers. It made the Queen proud, she did love and care about her daughter, but Arceus she frustrated her just as much when Tania would shy away from the glory of battle.

“Tania what are you doing down here?” she said a little too abrupt. She could feel Gaius scolding her for being too rough with the young girl. Adira sighed and approached her, “Down here practicing again? Would you like some help focusing?”

After a long, frustrating day of dealing with advisors and irrelevant problems that didn’t require her attention, Adira was exhausted. Of course, she couldn’t show this, she would never dream of that. So how would she fix this?

By practicing her sword fighting skills of course.

Now venting her anger, she parried, sliced, and stabbed at the wooden dummy in the downstairs training hall. There was nothing quite like training that got her blood flowing. Well, truly battling and some other things she could think of….
